Brown powder in one place my basement. Do I need and exterminator?

Also, if you have a rubble-stone foundation, the mortar flakes away after awhile and leaves a powdery pile along the perimeter of the foundation. This is normal wear and tear and requires repointing every dozen plus years. It’s not a terribly expensive job, maybe a couple grand for a typical house with a 20×50 footprint.

Do your have any red brick in the basement? Sometimes humidity can cause red brick to shed this reddish brown powder. If it’s termites the powder will be a lighter brown. Crack open the area above where the powder is and take a photo of it and show an exterminator.

why not google image search for termite, powder post beetle and carpenter ant frass to see if there is a match
