Just one addition – actually Brooklyn Solarworks have pioneered the use of 9 feet canopies to allow for installation on roofs where FDNY regulations would otherwise prohibit them or to allow “peeking over” neighboring buildings that might block the light. I incorporated it into my design “unnecessarily” to allow for the later installation of a covered lounging space on the roof. In my case (not in a landmarks area) the canopy is only visible from certain positions. I personally like it. But I am kind of a geek.

I don’t think it can hurt property value, it helps your monthly bill, and tax credits make it more affordable assuming there are still tax credits going forward. Plus, it’s better for the environment.

Seconding Brooklyn Solarworks. Great group of people and super responsive. Plus they don’t tend to use those awful canopies you may have seen your neighbors putting up.

We used them and had a great experience. They were communicative, understanding, worked around some scheduling challenges, and really helped to make everything work for us – we were trying to get installation in 2019 not 2020 and they squeezed us in right in time. So far, everything is going well.

They were ultimately great, we had some communication struggles with them in the planning phase but our project had some complexity to it, but they pulled through and did a great job in the end. I would definitely recommend them though.
