Birds pecking at glass windows/doors

We have birds pecking and clawing at the glass windows/doors at the back of the house consistently and worried they will eventually crack the glass.

From what I read, its due to male birds seeing their reflection and assuming its a male competitor.

We don’t have any curtains in the back so not sure how we can avoid these issues going forward. Has anyone experienced this issue and can provide some advice?

We have problem with cardinal (female) that attacks our sliding glass doors upstate. They are never going to break the glass but of course they poop all over the deck.

We have this same problem a couple hours north of the city. Ours is a problem male Robin and he really really goes for it. We tried EVERYTHING, putting things in front of the windows, covering the windows, drawing grids with highlighters on the windows and none of that worked. Eventually they find a mate and go away but we got some flower stickers from amazon and that seemed to do the trick pretty well. We had to completely cover the windows and we do it every spring and if you make one window unappealing he may switch to the next. Good luck! https://www.amazon.com/Anti-Collision-Stickers-Accessory-Prevent-Strikes/dp/B0886C9WKW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Anti-Collision-Stickers-Accessory-Prevent-Strikes&qid=1651608471&sr=8-2

I know bob. They see sky and other birds in the glass. The point i was trying to make is these things hit windows, often big picture windows, with the force of a rock and they do not break the glass.

Occassionally it only knocks them out and a while later they will wake up and be gone . I’ve heard them hit my front window here in the city but it seems to happen more where ther is more space around the houses.

The problem of birds flying into glass is different from what the OP asks about. That happens because they can’t see the glass.

i have not heard of any of these small birds breaking glass. i have been in some houses in rural areas where birds really have the room to fly fast and straight and when they hit a window it is loud, like a piece of wood hitting the glass. but even they do not break it.
