basement security doors

I want to add an open work iron/metal door to my metal outer basement door. I want to be able to open the metal door most times to have air and circulation under the stoop, but be able to close it for extreme weather. The door is not a standard size 27.5 x 72. Is there any other way to get this done besides having one custome made?

hmm. That’s a thought, but the opening is also narrower than standard also. I will look into that idea. Thanks for suggesting it!

someone can cut a metal door. take the bottom out of it and braze or weld the bottom back into it. child’s play.

LOL. thanks! Since the answer is ‘No’ – I will move on. I already have a cheap solid door cut to size. I am planning on keeping it for extreme weather. So I will investigate on reasonable yet sturdy custom open work iron door. Any suggestions welcome.

short answer: no.

If severe budget constraint you could hire a handyman to install a 26″ door (see below) and cut the bottom to size but it would be a cheap solid door (they are somewhat prevalent in my neighborhood):
