Basement finishing

Trying to get a price estimate on refinishing a basement. Drop ceiling, no Sheetrock but clear glaze finish over existing brick. Enclose area under stairs to create closet. Possible 12 foot storage area (with sheetrock) or just storage cabinets from Ikea. I was quoted $6,000. Seems high.

Not a lot of info provided. $6K won’t go very far. But how big of a space? flooring? what sort of ceiling? insulation? lighting? electric? All that aside, if what you suggest is sealing an existing brick exterior foundation wall, that is inevitably a bad idea as the walls need to breathe and wick water.

I recommend getting multiple bids from different contractors. $6,000 doesn’t sound completely unreasonable.
