Anyone been through the Con Edison energy efficiency gas -----> electric heat r
ebate program?
I’m trying to navigate this, but Con Edison will not provide transparent information about how the rebate (up to 15k) is actually calculated. I will be converting from a boiler/gas radiator system to split hyper heat in a single family two story house. I’m also wondering if it’s advisable to have the HVAC company also decommission the old system and take it away if that’s a variable of the rebate. I’m just worried that the price an HVAC company would charge to take this away might be quite high compared with me doing it with a handyman and then what does the rebate actually go towards. Maybe I have it wrong. If you’ve been through this recently or have knowledge on the matter I’d really appreciate some advice.

First, I think you can only claim the rebate if the system is installed by a licensed participating installer. And the installer should know everything about the formalities.
I don’t think it’s necessary to have the hvac guy remove the old boiler. take a photo when you dump the boiler and radiators at the metal recycling place and keep the receipt just to be sure. Or take a before and after pic of the boiler room. a gas appliance should be safely disconnected by a plumber
