Any experience with Ikea Bathroom Vanities?

Hi All, we are renovating and really want Ikea bathroom vanities. Our architect said he didn’t advise it because he’s “heard” there are plumbing problems with Ikea vanities due to the incompatibility with US plumbing? And it seems there are some people out there who say the same. But, I really want to do my research thoroughly. Could you please share what your own personal experience has been- with plumbing- if you have any Ikea vanities please? thanks in advance.

I did my bathrooms (guest and 1/2) this summer, with Ikea vanities. Basically, my contractor had to notch the vanities drawers to fit the plumbing., he did not use the pipe that came with it, deemed it cheap He was not going to install them because, the plumbing wasn’t working, I made him notch the drawers to fit the p-trap.

It’ s fine for me, it is still an improvement, not using the drawers for storage. I think that they are made for new construction and/or gut renovations where the walls are open and you can redo the plumbing. I was just doing an update, so I would not recommend Ikea for cosmetic upgrades unless piping/plumbing is not an issue.

Nothing wrong with IKEA plumbing & faucets, one going on 15 years for me. One thing is, if you get one of the smaller vanities with drawers, there’s very little space behind the top drawer for plumbing, so you have to use IKEA or be creative. My plumber did not have a clue, had to make an ugly cutout in the drawer finally. I recommend placing the drain outlet level with the plane of the wall instead of sticking out an inch or two, then the sideways IKEA plumbing will fit.

If you use a competent plumber and just use the vanity as a piece of furniture it is fine. I wouldn’t use their drain, cheap plastic pipes or faucets.

I have ikea vanity, fake marble sink in bathroom and Ikea faucets in bathroom and in two kitchens.
Vanity came with funky plastic drain but I did not have any issues so far.
Bathroom faucet started leaking on the side after two years. Ikea honored the warranty and returned the full price of the item. Both faucets in the kitchens work great without any issues.

I think with the 10 y warrany it totally worth it.

No problems at all with vanities or faucets. I would be cautious about the white lacquer near sunshine all day. It may turn yellow.

I have 2 Ikea vanities in tenant units and they love them. No problems installing, although we floated them, didn’t use their legs.

Our capable plumber just installed two with no problem. Not IKEA faucets, but I’m guessing that neither vanity nor the faucets are a problem. And btw, I see IKEA vanities in the majority of renos I see on this site.
