any concerns with stripping and painting a steam riser / pipe?

I was going to use Citristrip to strip the chipped paint on a steam riser (see photo). Are there any concerns with using a paint stripper on the pipe itself, like could it compromise the integrity of the pipe? Also, not sure why the paint is chipping on this one riser, when the other 2-3 in our home are totally fine. Same paint, painted at same time… Thanks!
