Aerator for reseeding existing grass

I would like to add seed to our existing lawn this fall since I’ve heard it’s a good time to do it. It sounds like most effective way to reseed is to aerate first, then put down seed. Is there a place in brooklyn to rent an aerator or do people hire someone to do that? Thanks for any suggestions.

Try lawn aeration sandals – less than $30 on Amazon and totally work.

You don’t need to do all of that. Just put the seed down.
