Adding electric heater to a bathroom

We love our HW radiators but our bathroom can be chilly in winter. Am thinking of installing a wall panel heater for quick, short-lived, instant heat. Online research points to ENVI (good looking but may not provide heat quickly enough) and STIEBEL (German engineering, well reviewed, but not as neutral looking as the ENVI). We could also change out our regular extractor fan for a combo fan/heater although reviews seem very mixed. Anyone have experience adding heat to a bathroom, tips, preferred brands? Thanks.

Neither my eyes nor skin have liked having the heat lamp on in the bathrooms I’ve had that had them installed, so I never used them. They were an older kind commonly installed a few decades back, the kind that looked orangish, though I’m not sure the new ones don’t have the same issues due to the type of bulb they are.

So, I would never install one. I’d go for any other kind of heater instead – a small modern radiator if space was tight (I’ve liked the old radiators I’ve had in bathrooms, particularly the kind that were smaller than the radiators in other rooms, though I’ve never had the flatter, modern kind), or radiant floor heating, or a heated towel rack (they make electric ones that don’t have to be hooked into your hot water heating system), or even some sort of electric heater built into the wall or into the toe kick of a vanity.

It has no v effect on the fan’s function. T he e heat part is just a socket that holds a heat lamp.

Thanks, all. I’m leaning towards a heat/fan combo. However hoping the dual function doesn’t impair the functionality of the fan.

Eletric Towel Racks are pretty awesome (just like Gas ones) as they keep the bathroom warm and also make the towel warm for when you get out of the shower!

I’ve put in a bunch of basic Cadet-brand electric baseboards (with the thermostat add-on, it’s cheap) in the bathrooms of rental units – this is definitely an inexpensive option from an install point of view, but the big issue is that to really benefit you need to keep it running since you’ll be in and out before the heat really kicks in, and it’s pricey to keep running. I think the heat lamp integrated into an exhaust fan is the best bet for quick heat.

neo grec, not really. i am currently using one in my shop but it is not appropriate for a restroom. that is why i am thinking of an infrared light. they are made for bathrooms and the only place i have really seen them used is hotel room bathrooms. after dibs posted what he did in the last post, i checked amazon and there are some on there. (i’d put the shop heater in the bathroom but that would go over like a lead balloon with my better half).

if anyone is looking for an infrared heater and they do not mind something utilitarian looking, like what i hung in my shop, ask and i will find a link. i am happy with it.

also, heat lamps are radiant so they heat you right when you turn it on. no waiting. put it on a 1/2 hour timer.

go see another post here a few weeks back. and dibs i think said something about putting a heat lamp in and if that guy says something, it has to be the thing to do. that is what we are thinking about doing as the wiring is in place.
