ADA compliant door entry - 3 family
I’m renovating a 3 family brownstone.
Do the interior apartment entry door handles need to be LEVERS, as opposed to knobs, to be ADA or Local Law 58/87 compliant?

3 families means you’re a multiple dwelling, so must comply with accessibility requirements. Assuming you have no elevator in the building, only the ground floor apartment should have to be accessible, and that means a lever at the entry door. Doors inside the apartment do not need levers (code calls for knobs to be easily replaceable w/ levers if/when needed.

i am surprised no one has come on here and commented. i read this and had a thought: one and two family homes are not subject to certain kinds of codes. i am not sure if those kinds of exclusions apply to 3 family. why not look at it from that perspective. perhaps scan the law to see if 3 family are excluded.
