$250 Gorgeous Window/AC Iron Guards (2)

Looking to find someone interested in a set of Parlor Floor window guards. They are 3 feet in width and 7′ 8″ in length. i can do it.. to tell you the truth, because i am often busy with a lot of requests for door work (my mainstay) , i often try to help people find a way to do these other things on their own and if you are at all handy and wanted to take a crack at it and sent me pics, i would be glad to coach you. no charge. if you really need it done by someone i can. i do have an elevated first hour rate though i can work on that a little.

@brobinson: without looking at something like this and seeing how close one can put a tool to it, there is some risk in what i am saying, as we don’t want to hit the good brownstone with moving tool. for guys like me, the thing with have in out tool box is an angle grinder. that is the fastest. if we have to take care with sparks or are worried the angle grinder will damage something (our hands, the safety guards are thrown away the day we get the grinder) we use a sawzall. a bit slower, a lot safer.

I would hope you have an alarm system installed. Unfortunately these are probably going to be hard to sell. If you don’t find a buyer you could try Roy at NY Old Iron outside of the Lowes on 9th Street, you could also donate them to Big Reuse One 12th street in Brooklyn

I live in a neighborhood where people are just starting to feel confident enough to get rid of them. Some still have the full on bird cages enclosing their property. Every time I see them go, I cheer.

We got rid of them when we did our windows, and it makes a world of difference physically and emotionally!

I thought parlor floor bars like those looked fine back in the ‘70s. Now they just remind me of t he bad old days— the aftermath of the city’s 1975 fiscal crisis and the 1977 blackout.

I can’t imagine you will find someone t buy these. But you might be able to find a scrap guy to remove/take them for free.
