2100 Bedford Ave

Does anyone know about this area of Flatbush (Bedford between Lenox and Linden)? There is a beautiful condo building there, with somewhat affordable (by ridiculous NYC standards) market rate condos but I’m not sure about the location. Any insight would be appreciated!

It’s safe. There are always a lot of people out on the streets, even at night. There are quite a lot of 24 hour businesses. Stick to the main roads and you’ll be fine.
I spent 5 years in a supposedly safe part of Brooklyn where the streets were desolate after 9pm. My wife said she always was spooked out. She has no problem where we are now.

Thank you both for the feedback. Do you find this area safe? I am a small woman and work late hours, meaning I’ll be walking from the subway at night. The NYC crime map suggests some issues but you can never really tell from just the map alone. Insight is appreciated!

Good area. Bustling and dense. Lots of produce markets, fish, butcher, stores of all kinds, best Caribbean food in the city, and many newer places popping up all the time. 10 minute walk to the the park and you get 2 train options. Linden is a truck route but if you can handle that you’ll be fine.
It’s experiencing gentrification of a kind, but will never be as drastic as other parts of Brooklyn, in part because of the large number of rent-stabilized apartments. It will remain diverse for a long time!

This is close to, but not quite IN PLG. There are many new restaurants nearby, in southern PLG and just below the Clarkson Ave. boundary, near this building. I think you’d find the neighborhood safe, albeit somewhat more congested and noisy than the northern part of PLG.

I presume you’re aware that an engineer or building inspector is just as important with new construction as with an old building–probably even more so!
