Recommendation for Rahmann Contracting

I know people are frequently looking for reliable and competent
contractors from time to time and how difficult it is to find someone good.  We recently had facade repair and repointing done by Rahmann Contracting on our house in Boerum Hill.   They did a phenomenal job, and we could not be more pleased with their work. They are prompt, courteous, and professional, and they have a licensed P.E. on staff who is extremely knowledgeable and approacheable.  I would definitely use them again and for larger jobs as well.
(Also, I have no affiliation with Rahmann, but I thought this might be helpful to others!)

Don’t go with Rahmann.   Our building had Rahmann come to do some simple patching/sealing work on our roof.  Not only did they do a sloppy, half-finished job — they then wanted to charge us for finishing the job (Oh, and pyscho called our mgmt company until he – against our explicity instructions – did). Oh, and we still had to go up and DIY to finish their finishing.  Terrible, terrible, terrible.  Caveat emptor.

I had Rahman come out last week because I want my facade, cornice and stoop repaired.  He didn’t seem interested in the job.  I’m in landmarked Crown Heights and he said he’s never worked there.  He named the other expensive nabes he’s worked at….maybe he thought I couldn’t afford him.  His loss!!!

Well, I can say, being a neighbor of a house that was “cleaned” that they did not do a good job (they had to be asked back several times) and were EXTREMELY messy.  I heard that they can be difficult to deal with when you have any issues.

We covered the bricks back up with stucco to match another wall, but I can take a picture of the stucco if you’d like.  They also installed mesh wire between the bricks and the stucco to prevent water from getting through and to protect the bricks, which was the problem we were having.

Our block was actually not landmarked, so I didn’t have to worry about that; however, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them for a landmarked job.  Definitely reach out to their engineer and speak with him.  He’s excellent.

Thanks for posting.  I’m currently looking to have my facade redone.  I’m in a landmarked area; I’m looking for a contractor who has lots of experience working with landmarks.
