More Feedback on Rahmann Contracting?

Hi all. I’ve seen a positive review for Rahmann Contracting recently on the forums, but also quite a few “buyer beware” responses when their name came up. I am considering them for a decent sized exterior job and would like to know if anyone else can share feedback on working with them.

Kidbklyn, not sure what your insinuation is exactly, but I assure you I am a real live homeowner who was looking for feedback on the contractor. My comment about them being in the neighborhood refers to the fact that they seem to be located in red hook/carroll gardens rather than outside of the brownstone brooklyn vicinity like so many of the other GC firms I have had by for quotes. Specifically, this thread had a positive review on Rahmann, http://brownstoner.staging.wpengine.com/forums/topic/recommendation-for-rahmann-contracting/ and as another poster mentioned, they do have some decent reviews on angies list. My experience meeting them and getting a quote was actually pretty positive too. I am likely to make my vendor selection shortly, and it will likely not be this firm, but unsure what exactly made me sound like a shill for them when I was just asking whether any other posters happened to have experience with this local GC.

On angle’s list Rahmann has some legit-looking reviews. However, my experience is that most of these ilk will try to push you into repairs you don’t need. So, par for the course.

The response by asimplenoise is obviously the response of the contractor and not a homeowner who happened to see the contractor in the neighborhood. Since Rahmann has been around a while, where are the posts offering a supporting view of his work and bids?

Thanks for the response. Yes, the gentleman i met with came across as bright and thorough as well — and the bid is in line with others I’ve received. I figured since they were in the neighborhood that some others may have had work done and could share some feedback — anyone?

Got a bid from Rahmann a couple of years ago to replace some concrete in front yard of my house and to redo the sidewalk. He came off a bright and thorough. He told me he had doctorate in engineering. Also, he mentioned the danger of the front of my brownstone collapsing down when the 4 inches of concrete in the yard, which doesn’t support anything other than someone standing on it, was replaced. That was pure nonsense. His bid was astronomically higher when compared to the three other bids I received. When I see his truck riding around I wonder which home owners were suckered by him.
