wood fence & pavers

Hi, We are re-doing our back yard and I would greatly appreciate some advice. Where could I purchase: 8′ tall wood fence & good looking, long-lasting (but inexpensive) pavers There will be a 1.5′ wall containing a planting bed. Any thoughts on what I should use to build wall?Also, my contractor is suggesting that we cement between pavers – as opposed to gravel or sand – any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I built the back wall of my planters out of bricks & placed it 4 inches from the fence so the wood wouldn’t rot.  I dumped a lot of small rocks in the space to discourage growth. I agree about the pavers – I have creeping thyme between mine.

I believe you’ll need a permit for an 8′ fence. 6′ fences are OK, which is why all the fences you can get at HD or Lowes are 6′ or less.   As for pavers, that’s entirely a matter of taste. For instance, we like having moss between pavers (you can also plant thyme or other creeping plants) instead of cement, sand or anything.
