Sinking Front Area/Masonry/Understoop/Ironwork

hi all – wondered if you had a good suggestion and price for some work in our front. We want to sink the front and add blue stone, so that it is flush with the floor, and the stairs come in from the sidewalk, and not by our door. Also wanted new ironwork gate, and new stoop steps and reconfigured place under stoop. Any good recommendations – and I was given a quote of ~$40k – seems very high per interior contractors. Thanks!

Get a quote from an exterior masonry contractor, as that is essentially the bulk of the job. Preferably one that does landscape masonry.
Your interior contractor probably quoted for subbing out the entire job with 30-40% mark up.
If you are in a Landmark district; you will never get approval for this. Make sure that they put in drains.
