How to tell if brownstone work is good?

I hired a company to redo my townhouse stoop. They did a nice job but now that they are done, I notice a hairline crack that goes across a corner, as well as a few places where the corners appear slightly chipped. I haven’t made the final payment so I do still hve some leverage. My question is, how do I know if this small crack will turn into a larger crack further on? One which leaks water into my stoop and eventually causes bigger cracks?

Like bedstuy said, curing is important. How long did they wait between scratch coat and the brownstone? Make them redo it.

We had the same issue and the contractor ended up refunding the cost of the stoop work. Wish we knew the cause of the problem. I know some contractors wait months before applying the final coat over the scratch coat – our contractors did not and I wonder if this caused the hairline cracks.
