Brownstone scratch coat curing question.

So I know the final scratch coat should cure for 4 to 6 weeks before the brownstone-colored layer is added. But what if the area is under the stoop and so not in the sun or rain? How long should one wait before applying the final coat?

Concrete dries within a couple of days, so I am not so sure if there is really a 4-6 week rule or if the contractors make it up to be able to push your project while working on other sites 🙂 Correct me if I am wrong.
