expediter/letter fo completion

We used an expediter for our kitchen gut reno. I paid them  $1750 to get a DOB ALT2 approval.  Now, more than two years after the renovation was completed, I get a bill for $450 for obtaining a DOB letter of completion. My immediate thought was, Seriously? In what way was this “expedited”? Surely I could have done this myself with greater speed. True, I’ve been living happily with my lovely new kitchen and the ridiculous delay has not harmed me in the least. But is this normal?  I just feel really annoyed about this bill.

its as per the agreement i would bet. this is a tactic of sorts, I dont know where the/your architect is in the process two years later but he/she is part of the equation as they should be party to pursuing sign off. the reality is signing off a job is easy and frankly not even worth 450 if everything is in order its pw3 and tr1 to be signed by appropriate parties and filed. OK, need to go back and look for that proposal and see if I agreed to this in the first place. There have been no ongoing DOB problems, so the mystery remains as to why it took 2 years.

Most expediters proposals include a separate line item for obtaining a letter of completion.  Assuming your agreement had similar languate being charged for obtaining the letter is not suprising.  Getting it 2 years later is just weird, unless there have been ongoing problems trying to clear up issues with the project at DOB.  Of course a worse suprise could have been going to refinance next year and being held up because of open work at DOB.
