Forced air duct cleaners?
I have forced air heating in my 3-story brownstone. Since we did a pretty intense reno, there’s a lot of construction debris in the vents that needs to be cleaned out, and we figure it makes sense to get all of the ducting fully cleaned. I have located cleaning companies, but have gotten wildly differing rates for cleaning – one as high as $1200.00, and one as low as $100\. Can anyone provide any thoughts on why this is, what one should be spending, and if you have any vendor recommendations? Thans!

I had my forced air heating ducts cleaned last year and it was around $300. It is also a 3 story brownstone. I had it done by Sears. The whole process took about 1-1.5 hour. $1,200 is way too high.

$1,200 for a 3 story Brownstone sounds very fair. $100.00? Do you really think someone could do that job for a ‘C’ note? Either they were pulling your leg or it’s a hoax. Common sense. Use it. Hell, before I left the plumbing trade, I wouldn’t walk into someones house for under $100.00\. And that was almost 15 years ago.
