Sidewalk hole by National Grid
Hello all – the gas company came and replaced the line coming into our single family house under the stoop and in doing so dug a hole in the concrete sidewalk around their valve. The workers filled the hole and put some kind of asphalt on top – they left a couple hours ago. My question is, am I now responsible for repairing the concrete sidewalk? Or does the gas company? I’m calling them in the morning but would still appreciate any advice on the subject.

I think you’re fine….and they will fix (or city will).

Same thing happened to us a few months ago, National Grid redid all the lines down our block then did the gravel thing. A few days or maybe a week or so later the city sent a team around to repair all the sidewalks. They did a nice job, tho repairs were poured concrete only, not bluestone. So I think you should just wait a bit and see what happens, it’s likely if it got torn up that it will get repaired as well.
