Where can I find Vintage Door Knobs?
http://cdn.brownstoner.com/4f4f98153eef2-.jpg
This is the door knob to my Inner Front Door. The set screw hole is stripped and the shaft the set screw locks too is stripped. I am trying to find a replacement parts. Does anyone know where these are sold, either original and replicas?

If you decide to replace (or need more), Olde Good Things always seems to have a lot of knobs and other decorative hardware.

Locate the new set screw in brass or bronze first, then buy a new sharp drill bit and tap. Hard to help with the shaft without a picture. A picture of the whole latch set would help too.

I’d rather keep the original knob…if made of brass, you can do it in a few minutes yourself if you buy a tap of the next bigger size at any hardware store. And the matching screws of course.

I believe you can just have the screw-holes of your knobs re-bored (or whatever the techical word for that is) at a machine shop. This would give you a new shaft – but maybe you’d have to use a larger screw for it.
