Quality front door closer
Our vestibule door slams like crazy when the front door is also open- I guess it creates a vacuum which makes it slam closed. I think we need a more powerful door closer to regulate the speed it closes at. When the front door is closed, the vestibule door closes fine. Any recs for a good door closer?

LCN is highly regarded as the best in the industry. We have used their “super smoothie” model 4041 to solve this problem. They have four adjustments, so they can be fine tuned to suit just about any situation. You’ll probably pay around 200 bucks for one – but well worth it.

Be aware that these have adjustment screws on them and check those before you replace. I frequently get calls about these (or people mention the problems they are having with theirs when I am there for something else) and all it takes is a couple turns of a screwdriver. The other day I was able to adjust one that looked like it was put in just after the Dutch settled New Amsterdam – and it worked. There are usually two or more adjusting screws. One will adjust the speed of the close from wide open to say 15 degrees and the last will adjust it from 15 to close. something like that. Loosening the screws will usually speed it up. If adjusting it fails, Norton is the make we usually used in commercial buildings. Steve
