Need doorstop questions for brownstone restoration

I had assumed we would use the standard little stick w rubber tip thingy attached to the baseboard. The contractor pointed out that the door casings are so large that these aren’t going to be long enough and we’ll be pulling the doors off their hinges or something? He’s suggested we use the those ugly things you put into the floor. I don’t know why putting anything in the floor makes me cringe, but it does. What have those of you out there used?

How about one of those stops that slips onto the hinge pin? No holes in the baseboard or on the floor. Google “hinge door stop”.

The Victorian (and early 20th century) doorstop was often a turned wood piece with a rubber tip on the end. I think Van Dykes has them and probably House of Antique Hardware. They are inexpensive and you can paint or stain to match baseboards.

House of Antique Hardware has a variety of doorstops, ranging from 2 1/2 inches to nearly 4 inches. Surely one of them will be big enough.
