Doorbell Installation

I need to install a doorbell to my single family house.  It;s a simple installation with 1 chime and 1 bell.  I am getting outrageously expensive quotes on this from electricians.  Does anyone have a cost effective way of getting this done.

any advice is appreciated.

Todays wireless doorbells work great. It is preferable to have a hard wired bell this way you never have to change batteries, however if you want to do this inexpensively wireless is the way to go. There are both battery and plug in recievers (your bell). The plug ins require only occasional changes of the button battery. This is a complete DIY installation. We buy the 20$ Home Depot specials for temporary use on jobsites all the time, they work great even though they get alot of abuse.

Call an intercom or burglar alarm company. They are typically cheaper and more than qualified to install a doorbell. Wired is always better and more reliable than wireless.
