Door Alignment
We live in a pre-war apartment which has settled considerably over the years. We consistently have trouble with a few of our doors either getting stuck or not aligning correctly and the door knob does not catch. We have had this fixed a few times, but as the weather changes and maybe as the building settles more we find ourselves having to realign these doors once or twice per year. That seems a bit excessive and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on long term solutions that are not too drastic like replacing the entire doorframe. Thank you in advance.

Humidity can make wood expand. The doors need to be shaved more so that they will close and open all the time. Look at your hinges. If they are loose at all, that can cause the door to sag adding to the problem.

I have a similar issue. Bedroom door closes in the summer, but not in winter. I think it’s a humidity thing.
