It this railing something the DOB would accept for sign off?

Se attached. The drawings we filed do not include a deck so this is something I’m contemplating myself (this is a picture form another rebuilding). My fear is that by building a deck the DOB will ask for amendments or is that not going to happen?

…does the railing need to be added as an amendment or can we just install it before inspection? As if now our drawings only show a door and nothing behind it. Once you open you have a 4 foot void on top of the hatch that opens to the basebt

Thanks for the reoly. Our wont actually be a full deck but just a small version to get to the garden from the first floor, but I guess it doesn’t really make a difference. What happens when the DOB sees the deck without an amendment without having it on the drawing? Do you get a fine or are you just asked to amend the drawings? We would be building it by code obviously

of course you need to file for a deck. you also need to check the rear yard setback, etc, fire rating of materials(needs to be non-combustible within 3′ of the side property line). the railing looks ok, needs to be 42″ H. http://nyc-dob.com
