How to remove a cellar vacate order?
My family recently got a notice of violation from the DOB and aside from that, we also got an vacate order on our cellar level. Basically, we live in a legally 1 family house but the cellar also has a full bathroom, a full kitchen and two bedrooms. We wish to fix this violation. After doing some research, I understand that we need a dismissal request inspection. But before doing that, we need to restore the cellar back to its legalize condition. However, here is my question, how strict are these inspection? We still have a 1/2 bathroom (no shower) and cabinets where the kitchen use to be (no stove or sink). Is that enough for the DOB inspection and remove the vacate order?

someone, maybe a neighbor, reported us and DOB gain access to inspect our house. Such experiences had never happen to us before so we didn’t know what to do.

You’ll Need a to a plumber to remove fixtures and cap lines . If your plans don’t show a bath in the cellar, then it isn’t supposed to be there .

I am surprised that no one else has chimed in here and I am not really experienced in this, but i have a neighbor who got caught for the very same thing so I will relay to you what I recall him telling me; he had to get an architect to draw the basement the way the house was built and had to put it back that way. I remember him telling me he was out 8,000 by the time it was done. and he was not the one who installed the kitchen; it had been the previous owner. Steve
