DOB inspects a permitted project, do they report neighbors non-permitted work?

A neighbor is building an extension, fully permitted and legit. However, all but one of the decks in our “donut” of backyards are clearly not to code (i.e. used combustible material within 3′ of lot line). If DOB comes in to inspect the extension being built, any chance they’ll cite violations for any of the neighboring decks they see? The extension being built will literally abut a non-compliant wood deck on each side.

When I built my addition they did not look at my neighbors’ illegal decks. They start 2 doors away from me but the inspector made a point of not looking at anything except my property. It’s deliberate.

you know, I wonder what happens if they are called to one place and see something at others. I held off building an over size shed on my property but now that just about all of my neighbors have one, I may do the same, but I am reminded of one story: a number of years ago someone made a complaint about something on 39th ave in Sunnyside. the DOB got annoyed about the complaint(s) and went down the street and cited everyone for everything. it was a big mess and made the papers as people were asking for relief claiming the DOB should have taken care of the issue they were called for.

I’m not 100% sure but think it unlikely. Given that Forum experts have said that an inspector won’t report non-compliant conditions inside a house where he’s tasked w/ looking at a specific issue, I’d say odds are that he won’t stray out of his immediate remit.
