DOB Inspection of Boiler

We’re in the midst of a oil to gas conversion in our basement.  Our plumber who has been wonderful is scheduling the DOB inspection.  Has anyone had this done?  Are we unnecessarily worried that the inspector will do a witch hunt and look for violations not related to the boiler.  During our renovation, we were hit with a $500 fine for not posting a No Smoking sign on the 4th floor (it had fallen) even though all the others were up.

They’ll likely check whether the boiler room itself meets code, and look for smoke/CO detectors.  I’ve recently had a couple of inspection of projects where there wasn’t any work in the boiler room, but it was the first place the inspector headed to, so my guess is that this is happening department wide.  For my projects, the inspectors required minor work in the boiler rooms, but did not require them to be fully brought up to code. jcarch ———————— James Cleary Architecture

when I had mine done last year the inspector looked at everything in my basement, despite my plumber’s protestations. There was a minor issue but the inspector decided to let it go.
