Can you inherit & use active permits on home purchase?

I’m in the same siotuation. Yes, the permit _application_ wich was denied did transfer over, and we have to either hire an expediter to close out the application, or have our application built ontop of it as an alteration.

hi all,  looking at a house that apparently has open and active permits – though a bit old at 2004 – for the conversion of a garden basement (not cellar) back into a rental. This is a two family house, I realize all basements are not rentable, but my question is the permits. Assuming the permits were filed correctly, and we wanted to complete the work after purchase, can we use them with a new contractor? Or do we have to cancel them and start from scratch?  On DOB its listed as “Q PERMIT-PARTIAL” and not in audit or flagged.  Thanks so much!
