scrap metal

Hi, I have some scrap metal from a recent renovation. Trying to understand my options for disposing it. Is this something you pay to have picked up, or the other way around? Will the sanitation dept pick it up? Thanks!

The best way to get rid of scrap metal is to sell it at a scrapyard. Depending on what kind of metal you have (Copper being lucrative, and steel not so much), you get your pricing depending on the weight of your find. It would be great if you can go to a couple of dealerships to know where you can get the best prices. My friend recently sold his scrap metal to [SIMS Metal Management in North Haven](http://yellowpages.norwichbulletin.com/sims+metal+management.9.12403286p.home.html) and was very happy with the turnout. It’s an option you could consider.

Depending how much you have left over, you could recycle it with your regular recycling pick up, or as xchx said – leave it out and someone will very likely take it.

You can sell scrap metal, so if you have enough, a trash hauler should pick it up for free. Also, if you leave it on the street, someone will probably find it and take it.
