I am contemplating building a deck off of the parlor. Does anyone have a rec for good reputable contractor? Tips?

I totally agree with deanst Steve Rayboy does a great jobs and pays attention to detail.  He just finished our deck and fence and did a great job i would definately recomend him.

Decks are on DOB’s hit list so get a permit. If you want to go close to the property line then at least that area of the deck would need to be non-combustible.

I used Susan at Sketch and Hammer. She outlined all the code issues and built me a steel structure deck with wood flooring, 6′ high privacy screens on the side and aplanter box and utility box. I found her easy to work with and she has great ideas. She has a website.

I absolutely plan on getting a permit. Plans are already on file with the DOB (this is the last big thing in my nightmare of a reno). I saw some discussion in previous queries that the homeowner is suppose to get the permit? or is Schnall the man for the job? DIBS-Hi! Thanks for the rec. I hear Sketch and Hammer are really expensive–like in the 20K to 25k range although the pics of your deck are amazing and drool worthy-I am not looking for anything that high end. Just a simple black metal deck with spiral stairs. I have one estimate in for 10k but experience has taught me that I should get more than one estimate…..
