DURAGRID Fiberglass Grating on deck?
The NYC Dept.of Buildings does not approve Fiberglass Gratings for decks, as it is neither 100% fireproof and it does not have the weight load capacity to accomodate decks.. Only Iron Grates are used on roof decks as well as parlor floor decks to be compliant and safe.

Has anyone used McNICHOLS® DURAGRID Fiberglass Grating on their deck? How did it turn out? Any pointers? Thanks!

I also am interested in answers to this question, and particularly like the look of Wide T-Bar which looks nice (see http://www.mcnichols.com/products/grating/pultruded)

I’m also interested in responses on this including how expensive this option was compared to some of the others – Wide T-Bar in particular looks nice http://www.mcnichols.com/products/grating/pultruded

McNichol’s in particular is usually kind of pricey, but if your SF is not insane and you have the right installer, I’m sure it will turn out lovely. I haven’t priced the bar options in particular, but the molded fiberglass (which we’ve used as subsurface material to brace thin exterior tile) runs roughly $215 per 8×4 peice when purchasing in bulk (up to $400 if buying onsey’s or twosey’s from McMaster Carr). I haven’t looked at their SS pricing in a while, but I would imagine it’s twice that.

I guess that helped the Duragrid question! You can use other brands too- not sure where McNichols shakes out compared to other suppliers (my first instinct is that they are more expensive). We’ve gotten ours from American Grating fyi.
