What to do with cinder blocks?

I have around 20-30 cinder blocks in my backyard that I’ve used in the past to make a bbq pit. I don’t have a need for them anymore and I’m trying to find out my options for getting rid of them. I don’t have a car/truck, so it’s difficult for me to bring them anywhere. Does anyone have advice on whether the city every collects this type of thing, or if there’s anyone that might want them?

Well you can take photos of your cider blocks and paste them on facebook, google+ ,myspace and other social media sites. Image sharing sites like imgur ,flickr can also be useful. Like others said posting them in the free section of Craiglist will help a lot. Though personally I think you should keep them somewhere in the basement. Who knows, it might come in handy during some repair work in your house like repairing a wall.You can always use a spare cinder block if some part of your wall gets broken or develops a major crack. You can also google some construction companies, concrete contractors or brick manufacturers ,call them up and tell them you have spare cinder blocks. They will surely come to collect your spare cinder blocks. 20-30 seems fine amount. The community garden I am associated with (Greenspace on Fourth in Park Slope) has been considering getting cinder blocks to place composting equipment on. There’s also FreeCycle.org, which has a group in Brooklyn that I signed up for. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s great. Stuff is offered for free, other folks post what they need/want and then when things get taken that is indicated too.

If (like mine) your neighborhood has a local Listserve or Facebook group that would also work and you’d know your stuff was going to neighbors.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem. I listed them on Craigslist in the For Free section. They were gone the same day. It worked great.
