Recommendations for a good stair person

Hi Everyone – does anyone have a recommendation for a good stair person? I’m looking for someone who specializes in stairs (not a general carpenter) for a unique stair design (unique by function more so than looks) that could be done in wood or possibly metal. Please send anyone up for the design and build challenge. Thanks! Help Me Get Downstairs!

I’ve reached out to Santos and hope to meet him on Monday. For a little more info (yes, I’m about 1 year too late) for those that are interested.

I have a 100 year old home that has a narrow back stairway that leads to the basement and 2nd floor. We don’t use the stairs for the 2nd floor much but it is our only way to get to the basement. Each “flight” is about 6 stairs with a landing in the middle and an exterior door, followed by 180 degree turn (90 degree at bottom of first “flight” -> Landing / Door -> another 90 degrees to bottom flight. The trick is I’m hoping that the top flight (treads) can be somewhat removable for the rare occasion of having to move furniture or W/D into the basement. I think enlarging the doorway will allow for a better landing in the middle but still haven’t found a design that solves all of our “problems.” We aren’t interested in spiral staircases for they don’t help with moving furniture and my wife need our stairs to be save and sound with baby and laundry in tow. Advice welcome!!

Hi, I would definitely recommend Santos. I hired him for a full re-build of 100 year old stairs. He was very fairly priced, worked quickly and did an excellent job. He also did an excellent job repairing pine floors & made me beautiful radiator covers.
