Excavating a Basement 12-14" in Brooklyn

Anyone have a good, insured contractor that can dig out a legal basement 12-14″ and redo the under stoop access to the basement space? This has been discussed several times on the forum in the past… And several people responded that they had this type of work done but did not post contractor info…. Could these members PLEASE post their contractor’s info? I have an expeditor and architect (who have made a few suggestions)… But want to get several estimates for comparison. Thanks.

Hello, Can you please indicate the size of your basement. That will help me to give you accurate cost to do this job. Also what type of finish do you want on the floor (just concrete, or tiles etc). I assume there is no underpinning involved. Regards, Alek www.citiinteriors.com

anyone out there have any suggestions….? Other posts seem to indicate $1-2/sq ft per inch depth with no underpinning. But I’m getting quotes twice to three times that. Others in this forum have suggested a one thousand sq ft 12-18″ job can be done for about $20k. Seems that any work down to the base of the footings is priced by the sq/ft (as above) any work digging below the footings is priced differently.
