Post-Renovation Cleaning- Need Specialists? Typical Rate/Price?

I’m interested to know what’s a reasonable/typical price for post-construction/post-renovation cleaning, whether it’s typically by the job or by the hour etc. We just hired our regular cleaner to do a job next week with a family member, mostly on a floor-through before we move into it, but also on some more common areas, and I want to be sure she’s getting a fair price and also that it’s not a mistake to hire someone who doesn’t specialist in post-renovation cleaning. (it’s a little late for the phase but we’ll have to go through this again in a week when another area is done) Thanks for any feedback.

When we had a renovation at our home 3 -4 months back we used [services of a post renovation cleaning service company recommended](http://www.sunrise-cleaning.com/blog/cleaning-tips/make-cleaning-fun-2/) by a friend. They did their job thoroughly and perfectly and made our house look brand new. But watching their work, I thought of certain things that we should be careful. Important thing is to check how experienced the workers are and how reliable they are. It is best if we seek advice of a friend having some experience. We need to make sure they are cleaning all the areas. It is easy to miss a lot of areas.

in terms of pricing – hard to say without more details, namely the type of cleaning, and the size of the space.  most sawdust/sheetorck broom and vac jobs, i usually see rates of 200 or so for 2 ppl and a few hours (more than a couple, but less than a full day) –  heavier cleaning needing more than a broom and vac, you pay more, obviously.

do you have any sort of debris that requires special removal?   if you’re dealing in heavy tonnage/ large debris, dangerous materials (asbestos or lead paint debris being the most common) or other specialized debris, then certainly the appropriate measures should be taken.  If the main part of the hauling has already be done, and you’re just talking about a head to toe cleaning/ sweeping/vac etc – then dirt is dirt.  Generally, for this type of cleaning, i pay either by quote, or a day rate, and generally 2 ppl. For heavier or specialized debris, i call in professional rubbish removal and make sure they understand what the debris may contain.
