New chimney flue

I am deciding between 2 chimney guys to install a chimney flue because we are converting to a gas boiler. Estimates were exactly the same.  Any thoughts on using Andre @ A & A Chimney (nice enough guy–but guess he’s done this thousands of times already so didn’t appear overly excited about doing the work, not until he sees the cash I guess) or has anyone used B & P?? Thanks.

Also recommend Andre – he did a great work on opening up one of our fire places.   If the break open the walls to instal, tell them to patch it the way you want!   We didn’t tell them we were planning exposed brick – so now we have huge sections throughout the wall of plastered concrete..

Andre built terracotta flues for two chimneys in our house and created new fireboxes for them. We had a problem when one chimney was causing smoke to leak into our neighbor’s house. It required several call backs. Eventually — some 18 months after the original work was done — he opened up the chimney, found a small hole where the smoke chamber met the flue and fixed it. This may not sound like a recommendation but actually it is. In my experience, it’s next to impossible to get a tradesman to come back and fix a problem. But Andre took our concerns (and our neighbor’s) seriously and perservered until it was solved. That’s really rare. IMHO, he’s honest and skilled guy.

we used Andre and would highly reccomend… don’t know B&P at all but have a neighbor who used a series of nyc chimney guys (no idea who) and had terrible experienecs with all of them.

I used Andre – he did a fine job.  One thing I noticed is that the concrete cap seemed to be showing some deterioration – perhaps it was done jsut before it rained.

I second Andre – did an excellent job on my liner – he also capped a chimney. i wanted him to put more portland on the cap and he was very responsive about coming back out and doing that. I found him reasonable, honest and knew his stuff

I’m a fan of Andre.  He’s done about 20 or so chimneys for my clients over the years. I’ve recently dealt with another chimney sub (the gc’s preferred vendor) and it made me miss Andre.
