Fireplace job - looking for competent fireplace who know about gas inserts and brownstone chimneys

We bought a house from a family member in 2007 and have been using a gas fireplace (model mendota D 40 insert) as our main heating source in the kitchen. In March of this year we had some brick collapse and the firemen shut it down for precaution. The manufacturer does not want to help us saying our insert has no record. We had 3 local companies come to see the chimney and giving us various contradictory options but ended up still not wanting to deal with our insert – because not sure how to remove it or hook the liner back to it..etc…). The original service company says they can’t help us because they did not install it. We found out yesterday the original installer but have not been able to get them here sofar. We are willing to hire anybody who knows about these types of inserts work. The basic job will consist of: – removing the insert, clean the top of the insert by removing the bricks that fell on it.  – make sure the current liner has not been damaged and is working. – put a more solid and wider steal liner if needed. – service the fireplace (which is working fine) and hook it up for us. would like to recommend Halstead Welles in Manhattan — pricey, but they have excellent masons on staff and specialize in fireplaces.

Highly recommend Manny La Salle for anything to do with historic and new fireplaces and chimneys. He removed a wood mantle and installed an old slate one, did a beautiful job. Several other Brownstoners have used him to reline chimneys and other work like that and also have rave reviews.
