Watertight Cellar/Basement Hatches?
Does anyone know where to get these and who can install them? I am looking for one that will be flush with brickwork/cement on the ground. That is, I would prefer not to have a hatch that is raised off the ground. I found this older thread that mentions having watertight doors fabricated but is that the only way to get them? Are there standard watertight / sealed hatches available anywhere? Thank you in advance. http://forum.brownstoner.com/question/dVlD87spFeI=/recommendations-for-replacing-metal-hatches-to-basement

I just came across this website and noticed the flush door – looked kind of decent to me. http://www.emeralddoorsnyc.com/cellar.html

I had some just made – normally the “watertight” hatches stand 2-3 inches proud of their surroundings, but i wanted flush as possible so as not to trip over the thing. Vinnie’s Ironworks agreed to make them with a much lower frame ‘collar’ (less than an inch proud) for the hatch lid closes down onto & around. It’s going to be less flood-proof than the 3″ tall alternatives im imagine, but keeps heavy rains out just fine. and it looks and feels more like flush, ground-level hatch.
