Rebuilding Hallway Cabinets -- how much should I expect to pay?

KraftMaid makes utility cabinets 24″ deepthat come in a few different height, but 96″ definitely. You could stack a 24″ high matching over fridge cabinet (same depth) on top. Talk to a kitchen designer who really knows the catalogue.

They aren’t cheap, but they would be strong and less money, with a wide variety of door styles.

We have a cheaply made set of cabinets in our hallway that we’d like to replace with better built-ins. The space is about 10 ft tall, 22″ deep, 40″ across. One carpenter quoted us $2500 for a new set of four stacked 2-door cabinets with plywood and flat doors, unfinished. Could we expect to pay less or is this about right for the market? Ideally we’d like doors with moldings.
