I recommend Marci Pesner at Beagle Tiles – her workshop is down by Gowanus and despite her company’s name she’s mostly a furniture design-build place. She did a great job on a huge wall of cabinets, and another big wall of floor-to-ceiling bookcases for us.

Jo-Lyn Kitchens does good, reasonably-priced work.  They are not high design but if you want something fairly standard they are good to contact.

I recommend Hub Moore,  have seen his work numerous times.  Can build off site, paint/stain offsite, and bring to your home and install.  I wish I had his # but i bet you can find it somewhere on the forum.

I just had a wall of bookshelves made for my loft by Christian Galesi in Brooklyn (http://galesidesign.blogspot.com/) after seeing his name in the archive here, and couldn’t recommend him more. He did an amazing job, and finished the work quickly. I belive he also does stand alone pieces of furniture as well if that’s what you’re looking for.
