renovating our brownstone

We used M.Hamid Construction co # 718-633-1500\. He did gut renovation and facade work including brownstone resurface and brick pointing.Before hiring him we went his previous project and sopke to his clients, they were very happy with his work and we dicided to hire him. We also happy with his work what he has done for our project.He is licensed and insured.

hello everyone we are close to begin renovations to our brownstone bought last year and we will not do gut renovation this year becouse of our budget we just want to start from exterior of our brownstone the roof need to be replaced becouse it leaks and its old cracked probably need to be teared off and replaced also we want to restucco brown coat of the front of our house its looks bad and its cracked too and rear facade need to be repointed sealed anyone can recommend licensed contractors to do the work or we could hire a GC to menage the work any ideas about costs?? its 3 unit house located in park slope thanks.

Hi, I would suggest hiring a license contractor will do it for your project. Doing gut renovation is long process. I would suggest you give call to Millad at 718-669-8305\. His company does all that you have talked about.

I use Doha from Luxury Construction for a lot of projects interior and exterior. He’s just wrapping up a pretty extensive basement job for me now. He replaced the roof on my old coop (a 5 unit brownstone) and has done a number of other big interior jobs in my current place. Can’t recommend him highly enough. Really honest and good work. I don’t think you can pull it off on your own without the help of a professional if you are not a pro at it. An experienced contractor can help considering the fact that there is need for much work in the area you want to renovate.

If you are working with an Architect, they should be able to provide guidance. Basically, there are a few options to manage this project depending on the complexity. A Genral Contractor (GC) or Construction Manager (CM) is a must. The Department of Buildings will not allow multiple general construction permits issued on the same property. Using a GC or CM still allows you to choose sub-contractors that specialize in certain trades. A GC tends to have their own crew (less flexible) where as a CM will work with independent sub-contractors (more flexible). An Architect can also provide CM services, which will give you the continuity of design services and construction services. If you are working on the exterior first, there are other things to consider such as doors and windows. Is this a Landmark Building?
