ironworkers: ricardo or igor?

I’ve used Ricardo for years on jobs big & small & found him to be excellent as have neighbors to whom I’ve recommended him.  I’ll grant that he’s sometimes slow but his work & prices are worth it.

Ricardo sometimes gets a bad rap here, but we used him last summer for a deck and stairs, and were very happy. Prompt, fairly priced, and he had good feedback on some design options. We’d use him again.

Check the forum archive for Ricardo, from what I’ve read in the past mostly negative reviews.  Have them send you references or take you to a job site.  Talk to actual clients that’s best way to feel comfortable with any contractor.

Will definitely not go with Ricardo. Way too un-professional with returning calls, keeping appointments, meeting deadlines, and correction of his errors. Please see the archieve but in short this guy will waste your time…

I can’t say enough good things about Lopopolo Ironworks- he did 2 jobs for me and couldn’t have gone smoother.  Just my 2 cents…

I had read many positive reviews for Lopopolo and spoke to them a number of times about a job at my house but couldn’t get them to commit to a visit for estimate or the job itself for more than a week.  Wound up using Gabriel’s instead.  Price was fair and they arrived within 10 minutes of promised time for both the estimate and the work.

We finally ended up doing a massive deck and two stairwells with Lopopolo and like stikerhappy we can’t say enough good things about them. Joe is a straight shooter with impeccable workmanship and very professional. Try calling him early for they are very busy but he won’t waste your time. I don’t know Igor but please do yourself a favor and stay away from Ricardo!If you are in Fort Greene and time permitting we can show you the work Lopopolo has done for us.
