Glass out wall?

If you pulled a permit and are complying with the NYC energy code, you may find that such a large expanse of glass does not meet code. Make sure your architect reviews the situation. You are only allowed a certain % of glass, if over then you may need to use Rescheck or the much more expansive energy modeling. How large of a section are you talking about?

We have an exterior wall on a legal extension down to the metal framing at the moment– and the light is fantastic. So how much more do you brownstoners think it will cost to glass out the wall? Need a ballpark estimate so I can gauge what our contractor comes up with. Thanks in advance! Ps- no landmark issues.

Forget the short term hit.  The long term heating and cooling costs will be more substantial.
