Garden Apartment Window Security

It depends a lot on your lifestyle etc. Most burglaries are actually someone that knows the property intimately, maybe someone that has done work in the house a casual acquaintance that was previously invited etc. If this is a tenants apartment, many tenants will want security bars etc. If you can; put the old style ones back on with some customization, because the fire department approved ones are pretty ugly.

I recently upgraded the windows on my town home. The garden apartment bars were taken down and now will no longer fit. I live in a good neighborhood on an all home owner block of town homes, no large apartment buildings. However, I’m sandwiched between two main Avenues and close to a train. Anyway, is there a real need for the security bars or is this something that I see because there’s not reason to take them off? Does anyone have an opinion on whether we need to replace the bars or if we’ll be ok otherwise. We have a front gate but it doesn’t lock and one can step over it with little effort.

I think it depends only on your personal feeling. When I replaced my windows I took the bars out in the front and back. In my opinion there is a real need for it if your new windows are not easy to open and you have an alarm system.
