What's the signs of a bad Combi boiler installation?

http://cdn.brownstoner.com/514f27845245f-.jpg

Well, it’s happening; we are ALREADY getting calls on bad combi boiler installations from parts of the city hit hardest by Sandy.  New York Homeowner’s intelligently researched alternative options to another flood prone cast iron boiler, and found the Combination Boiler/ Hot water heater.  Unfortunately, many people are more concerned with getting “a good deal” rather than having the system “installed correctly”.    I cannot express how much of a mistake that is.
ATTENTION:  Any contractor offering to do a combi boiler for under 7k for an average NYC multi family home, has crossed into the “too good to be true” zone.    **Sings of a bad Combi installation:** *Banging sounds when you turn on a hot water facet, you have piping issues.
What’s happening:  The 3 way valve is slamming in and of possession between heating and domestic hot water.   What’s happening:  The does not have the proper Primary & Secondary zone piping.
*Banging sounds whenever the unit turns on.   (Likely gas piping issues)
*If the unit is less than 2 years old, has given you error codes. (you need a professional inspection)
*If the unit has had an part failures in the first 2 years. (you need a professional inspection) Too good to be true prices =  no heat & no hot water in the winter. (angry wife & kids)

If you have any questions about your combi installation, I am here to help.

If you are a certified and experienced tankless, wall hung boil, or combi installer or repairmen for Navien, Baxi or Viessmann.  I want to send you more work, please contact me.     Heatingprosnyc@gmail.com J Sullivan

I’m very glad your Navien CH unit is working well.  They are great units when sized up properly, installed correctly and maintained yearly.  I do plan on advertising here when we get a few more qualified repairmen.  We only have 2 guys and they are pushed to the limit already :/     (very hard finding certified, experienced, proven combi installers willing to repair/ re-install these things)   Honestly, repairing these things is not a profitable use of anyone’s time.  It’s more about helping people and doing what is necessary to protect the high efficiency heating industry from unquailfied plumbers destorying it.  I’m hoping a couple qaulified installers or repairmen sees this and reach out to me.
We’re trying to build a network of NYC’s best high efficinecy heating experts.  JS-

Thank you for posting here. I have had a Navien installed and so have friends of mine. They have had more issues, but I think they had them wrapped up. You should probably advertise on the site, as people will want to be able to find you in the future. I think the combi thing is an adjustment. I definitely trust the plumbers who installed mine, but I certainly would not call them experts.
