Crown Boilers -- Any good?

My plumber is recommending a Crown gas boiler to replace our defunct one.  He says there’s a huge backlog for Burnham and Weil.  Anyone like their Crown?  And is there a backlog bc of Sandy?

I’ve been to Burnham’s factory. There were no Crown boilers there. I have had good experiences with the customer service of both boiler companies, and I do agree that at this level there is very little difference in product quality but Crown puts all its parts outside the jacket. Burnham protects the ignition module, gas valve, relay, and power transformer safely inside the front panel. I prefer that and it costs a little more. Burnham’s been around for about a hundred years. Crown has always been regarded as a “builder’s grade” boiler, meaning they produce and sell their product at less expense than a boiler of somewhat better design and quality.

Crown condensing boilers are out of wack, but standard efficiency same as the rest of the crowd.

Uhm, the parts come out of the same exact factory.  Crowns are good, dependable boilers.  The markup is less, so the big downside is you’ll save a little coin?

crown is a low end product…stick with burnham…way better quality all around….think bannana republic and old navy are owned by the same company,,is there a difference?

To be more clear, Brooklyn suppliers are overwhelmed for sure, but boilers and water heaters are being delivered daily from other states. Some of mine came from West Side Supply in NJ. Tell your plumber to call there and ask for Bill.

My company installed three Burnham boilers this week and will install at least two more next week. There’s no backlog of quality boilers. Crown is just cheaper off the shelf.

Crown is owned by Burnham.  I’ve installed many Crown boilers and never had any issues requiring a call back.  Crown/Burnham’s service is great as well.
